Stanley Park's plants come in all shapes and sizes. They display a variety
of life-styles. Not all of them are green. Most, but not all, produce
sugars and starches from earth, air, water, and sunlight through the process
of photosynthesis.
The plants you meet in the park today present a living history of life
on earth.
Plant diversity is not haphazard or accidental but provides us with an
accurate picutre of Stanley Park's climate, soil, topography, and history
of disturbance.
Today, Stanley Park is home to over xxx plant species. The count changes
as species die out, re-establish themselves or arrive for the first time.
In the past 200+ years, human acivity has reshaped the natural plant community.
