Size: Medium Wings: With characteristic ragged edges with a short tail on each hindwing Upperside: bright orange with dark markings
Underside: banded shades of grey and brown
marked with a white comma Females are tan-coloured with the basal half darker than the apical or outer half |

Wings: Upperside are bright gold-brown
Upperside is darker in males than in females
