White to tan turning to yellow then pale brown as it ages. Skin covered by tiny granular spines. Fruiting body turban-shaped, usually flat topped to 2.5 - 5 cm high and 2 - 4 cm wide.

Fertile tissue separated from the base by a thin tissue. Spore tissue turns from a firm white mass to a powdery brown texture as it matures. Grows in soil or grassy areas
