Head with a black cap extending down to eye level
White cheek, throat and neck

Birds arrive in late September and stay until late March


Feeding:
Early Dec.
Seven horned grebes observed at high tide catching needle-fish within 5m of shore above the sandy bottom of English Bay Beach. The violently wriggling fish appeared to be slurped-up like a strand of spaghetti.
