Hooded Merganser This small, female, hooded merganser was photographed on Beaver Lake. Mergansers along with many other waterfowl species begin appearing on the coast in early October. The fall migration brings birds from the BC interior and northern areas to the coast. This lone bird was catching stickleback lurking beneath the last of the pond lily leaves.       Field Guide Entry: Hooded Merganser
