Labrador Tea Flowers One of Stanley Park's most sensitive and smallest ecosystems is an area of shore bog that persists along a narrow section of Beaver Lake. Labrador Tea is a woody shrub with thick leather leaves. For a brief time in late Spring the shrub thicket that covers much of the bog produces a profusion of wildflowers. This is a relic landscape; a kind of mini Arctic tundra. It is a reminder of how British Columbia's post-glacial coastline might have looked after the retreat of Ice-Age glaciers some 12 thousand years ago. This small community of plants and animals is one of Stanley Park's hidden treasures. It is best left undisturbed until appropriate access is provided.
